King’s College London - Bush House

The Aldwych Quarter comprises four iconic buildings, built by American businessman Irving T Bush and designed by US architect Harvey W Corbett in 1919, adjacent to the King’s College's historic Strand Campus. Its original function was as an international trade centre with exhibition galleries, shops, conference rooms, reference libraries, a small theatre, badminton court, cinema, swimming-pool, club and restaurant.  In 1929 Bush House was declared ‘the most expensive building in the world’, reflecting its construction cost of some $10 million (£2 million). The full complex of buildings in the centre of the Aldwych was completed in 1935

Fuller Rogers’ commission was to deliver the project management and construction management of the fit out and refurbishment of Bush House and two adjacent wings totalling 400,000 ft². including two restaurants, a night club for the Student Union; a GP surgery with 11 consulting rooms, 3 new auditoriums, and accommodation for teaching, learning and research for 12,000 students and staff. The development was opened by HRH the Queen in 2018.
